Async Estimate for Jira
Team members estimate an issue on their own time. Votes stay hidden until someone reveals them; the team then talks only about the issues where votes disagree.
Try it: one issue, four votes
4 of 4 have voted. Nobody can see the values yet.
An illustration of how a round works, with made-up votes on the Fibonacci scale.
Jira Cloud app
Free for up to 10 users. Estimate story points on your own time and spend refinement only on the issues where the team disagrees.
How a round works
Vote
Open an issue and find the Async Estimate panel. Pick a card (Fibonacci or T-shirt sizes). You see who has voted, never their values.
Reveal
Someone clicks Reveal. Agreement means a spread of at most one step on the scale, with nobody voting "?".
Set or repeat
The suggestion is the upper median of the known votes. Set story points writes it to Jira's story points field with your own permissions. New round clears the votes.
Fibonacci rounds only: T-shirt sizes can't be written to the numeric field, so those rounds have no button.
Estimation board
Each project gets an Estimation board. Reveal all opens every round; issues with the most disagreement come first. You only see issues you can view in Jira.
Troubleshooting
"Set story points" fails
You need edit permission on the issue, and the story points field must be on the issue's edit screen.
"This Jira site has no Story Points field"
Add a story points field to the site (Jira admin), or estimate without writing back.
"licence isn't active"
A site admin checks the app under Manage apps.
